Key Issues

Lowering Property Taxes

Inefficient use of tax dollars has led to the City of Cibolo collecting increased property tax revenue over each of the last five years to support a substantial rise in municipal spending. For Cibolo to become one of Texas's great cities, it must prioritize spending tax dollars wisely rather than continually asking residents for more.

Improving Infrastructure

Cibolo’s roads are notoriously poor, as evidenced by the ongoing issues with FM-1103, which have significantly impacted our city. To address these infrastructure challenges proactively, I propose establishing a committee to research innovative solutions, such as improved materials and construction methods. This approach will save residents frustration and conserve valuable tax dollars.

Implementing Zero-Based Budgeting

To control municipal spending and keep property taxes low, the City of Cibolo should adopt a zero-based budgeting model. This approach requires justifying all expenses from scratch each year, eliminating baseline budgeting practices that often lead to wasteful spending.

Encouraging Commerce and Limiting Regulations

Cibolo must actively foster commerce within city limits to boost sales tax revenue, which will help maintain lower property tax rates for residents. By eliminating cumbersome and unnecessary regulations, the city can create a more welcoming environment for both small and large businesses to establish locations in Cibolo.

Developing a Cultural Identity

Cibolo should strive to develop a cultural identity beyond being a commuter town. While our community’s roots are in agriculture, the significant housing growth over the past 15–20 years has reshaped our city. By planning more large-scale community events beyond the current one or two annual events, we can cultivate a unique identity while honoring our humble beginnings. These events will attract visitors, boost the local economy, and promote community unity.

Supporting First Responders

Ensuring the safety of all residents is Cibolo’s top priority. Savings achieved through smart budgeting should be allocated to fairly compensate first responders and fund programs that enhance their retention, strengthening our public safety services.
